Fiberglass Decking Material Advantages

Fiberglass decking material is a reliable alternative to other waterproof deck coatings.

Fiberglass is one of the best waterproofing deck coating materials available. But as an alternative deck material it is often over looked.

Yet it is certainly one of the longest lasting and affordable low maintenance options among all the alternative choices.

As long as the resin and fiberglass has been prepared and installed properly it will outlast even the best vinyl flooring deck installation and there are no welds to worry about.

This is a super quality if you want to install it and forget it. And if you have a lot of rain or moisture this will give you great peace of mind.

Take Great Care During Installation

You have to be careful to mix the resin properly and install the fiberglass according to the manufacturers' specifications.

The resin has to cure properly.

You can only mix as much resin as you can use in fifteen minutes. The weather has to be dry and relatively warm but not too warm.

It's a chemical material you are working with and if you make a mistake you have to remove it all and start over.

Materials You Will Need

You will need a proper cant strip to roll the matting up the wall of the house.

Also you need a proper drip edge to allow water to drain clear of the fascia board.

You can also add color pigments and non-skid additives for a really great looking surface that will give you decades of practically no maintenance enjoyment.

A Great Alternative Decking Material

It's quite popular in Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot but visitors to the site also tell me the folks up in Ontario and Quebec and parts of New England like it too because it's tough enough for cold winters.

Fiberglass deck material makes sense to a lot of people. Maybe it is the right alternative for your deck project.
