How Long Before Staining A Deck
by: Editor - Rich Bergman

Wood needs to dry out a bit before you apply the deck stain. Most lumber is wet and green when you buy it and I recommend at least 3 to 4 weeks or warm dry weather before you stain the deck.

If you stain it too soon the stain does not permeate and adhere to the wood as well.

Some people advocate waiting 6 months or not until the next season. I guess you would have to confirm with the manufacturer if they have a unique kind of product.

But for sure, wait at least 3-4 weeks after warm weather and you should be just fine.
