Where to Find Deck Building Codes in Edison, NJ

I just want to know where to find the building codes for my city. I called the township they told me over the phone that they follow the NJ state deck building codes. I am trying to build a deck 16ft x 24ft x 4ft.

To start with its a wise investment to buy yourself a copy of the latest version of the building code. For about $80 you can get a brand new copy of the 2006 International Residential Code.

That is a great starting point. www.iccsafe.org

Then you should make a phone call to your municipal building department and they will tell you if they have any codes which supplement the IRC and pertain specifically to the New Jersey area based on climate or any other unique factors.
