Above Ground Pool Deck Extension

I recently had to replace an above ground pool with another one due to wear and tear on the first one.

As you know, you build the deck around the pool, but since the new pool is taller and the installer needed room to move between the deck and the new pool, I now have two issues.

The first is that the new pool is 6.5 inches taller than the deck and the space between the deck ranges from 6 to 12+ inches. It is an oval shaped pool and the deck is half a hexagon to form around it.

I am trying to figure out the best way to cover the space and the height and wanted to see what ideas you had to do so. Support is an issue as the current deck boards range from 1 to 12+ inches from the nearest joist/cross beam.

Any suggestions/help would be great.

Above Ground Pool Surround

This will be a challenge but not impossible. You may have to go under the deck and extend the length of the joists closer to the pool. If you have a 12" gap I don't see any other way.

You could leave some space and then run a nice flat 2x6 along the edge of the deck to but up against the pool as close as you wish. You could bevel the outside edge to give it a softer look. This might work.
