Nearing Completion

After a year long wait my wife finally has her deck. It is made of IPE decking with 2" square tubing line posts and top rail with 3/16" stainless aircraft cable. The posts are 14 guage thick and 1/8" for the corners.

I will cap all the top rail and cable end corners with IPE. Cable and Hardware came from Fastenall Co. (Cheaper than any of the internet places)!!

Nice Combination of Materials
by: Editor - Rich Bergman

I really like the mixing of exotic Ipe and the metal railings with stainless cable. Also your idea of adding an Ipe wood top cap rail over the railing is a great idea.

What that will do is "warm up" the railing a bit from a human perspective. Its strong and sleek but its tied back into the beautiful decking boards. Great idea!

Thanks for sharing your ideas with us and I hope some of our visitors can get their creative juices flowing by seeing interesting deck railing and flooring materials working together.
