I didn't make the original post, but we have a dampness issue in our basement and I'm trying to find alternative flooring for that area.
Would composite decking work? I'd like to keep the ceiling height as tall as possible. Could I paint it white so it looks painted pine flooring?

If you are using it inside I would recommend using real wood. It will be very durable and have a much better look. For outdoors I like Correct Deck or Evergrain. They hold up better than most of the composites and have a good price.
