Green Piece Exposed In Composite Wood Board

We had a new deck installed in November, and the contractor did a great job with it. We noticed something weird though yesterday when we were outside enjoying a strangely beautiful February day here in Pennsylvania. Our deck "floor" consists of grey composite boards. One of the boards has a hole with a plastic-looking green colored object exposed. Is this just something inside the composite wood material that got exposed somehow? Is there anything I could or should do about this? I asked the contractor and he's a good guy, but he has no idea what this is.
