Raised concrete deck

by John

I have a wood deck which needs replacing. It is about 12 feet above ground level attached to the house and supported by 6x6 wooden beams.

Can I replace the surface with a cement or stone patio surface somehow and still support it with wooden beams?

Try looking at SilcaSystem
by: Editor-Rich Bergman

You sure can replace the surface with stone pavers or tiles very easily and just reuse the existing joist structure.

There is a great product for this that I have seen. It is called the Silca System and is a plastic grate system that attaches over your joists. All designed to handle common joist spacing and loads. You lay over some water proofing building paper similar to Tyvek and down go your stone pavers.

The jobs I have seen look beautiful. In fact I am going to be putting some up on our deck pictures gallery as I think this kind of deck design will appeal to a number of people.
