Second story covered deck with overhang.

I would like to build a 25'x19' covered deck off the second story of my three story house. The joist span would be 19' with the beam at 16'. Question, with 3' cantilevered out, can I support the deck roof that will only contain construction load (10-15psf dead)? The deck roof would be supported at the rim and have 20' rafters.

You are entering Structural Engineer territory
by: Editor

Great question but you are now into the territory of a structural engineer and I just can't give you any direction other than anything is possible. But the site and existing structure has to be examined, load points identified and a host of other issues. Only then can you begin to get reliable information about how to safely and correctly build your proposed deck structure.
