Can the Titan Deck Foot Anchors be used to secure a pergola, either with 4x4 or 6x6 posts?

Pergola Post Are Possible
by: Editor-Rich Bergman

Yes the Deck Foot could be use for securing pergola posts to the ground. In fact it has become quite popular.

However, remember the anchor itself is not going to provide you with the lateral resistance at the top of that post.

That will come from the stiffness built into the structure itself such as bracing from posts to rafters or joists and the direction of the joists and cross joists. Also remember that the Deck Foot anchor is still a floating type anchor even though it is screwed and anchored deep and firmly into the ground.

This is because if the ground freezes and expands, the large surface area of the load plate will rise with the soil as it rises during a freeze and then descend as it thaws. All completely imperceptible to the human eye.
