Titan Post Anchor Works with Trex Posts by: Editor - Rich Bergman
Yes it does.
The Trex post is a solid composite material and is super dense. The anchor works well and makes a strong connection.
However, because it is so dense you have to follow the same instructions I recommend for other hardwoods like Ipe and Cumaru. That is you have to get the hole saw cut deeper - to a bout 3/8" to 1/4" less then the penetration depth of the tube. You just can't drive a nice or a tube into Trex that easily.
See the installation guide on the Titan Post Anchor information page and the hardwood install video.
Solid Composite Posts Not So Common Anymore
Times have changed and the solid composite 4x4 posts referred to above are not so common anymore. In fact I can't remember when I last saw one.
In place of them have come a variety of different composite sleeves and skirts by all the manufacturers. Each post sleeve can range from 4" to 5" square.
So Titan is coming out with a range of post skirts with different opening sizes to address this issue. You should see them later in the fall of 2015.
